Yes, the inevitable happened. Woke up behind my desk in the middle of the night, to find out I was half way done with a Shorty maquette, to accompany Indy on his adventures on my bookshelve.
Here is something I've been working on in my spare time for a while now, it's a maquette of everyone's favorite Nazi punching archeologist, Dr. Henry Jones jr.! Below is a rather blurry picture of the original sculpt before the molds were made, hopefully I can show a picture of the painted resin cast soon!
Here are two illustrations made for the upcoming Star Wars Galaxy 6 trading cards set from Topps. I try to learn something with everything I do (if possible) and since my previous SW illustrations were digital I decided to go traditional this time, see how that works out for me. I like how they have a more "vintage" feel. Still have a lot to learn about painting though. They are done with acrylics and colored pencil on MDF board
Just a little something to show I'm still alive. I've been working on a lot of stuff, but can't show any of it yet, so this will have to do for now. It's nothing fancy, but I'm trying to force myself to use my eyes more when I'm drawing instead of cartoonifying the hell out of everything to make things easier for myself. It lacks a little "me", but I enjoyed making this nonetheless.
I am very proud to say The Itch won the International Student Award at Klik! Amsterdam. As of now, there is also a website live were I will post news and other things about my short film:
Here is the final version of "Een Spannende Dag voor Anna", an animated film I made together with Joost Lieuwma and Lukas Krepel. It was commissioned by an organization that takes care of children who can't live with their parents for a period of time.
Just playing around with getting a combination between that painterly poster feel and my own style. I really want to try my hand at some real painting once I have the time, it's been too long since my last serious attempt. There is still so much to learn... Other good news, we finished the "Anna" short, which should be available online soon, maybe even as soon as next week! I'll post it here, once it is online.
Here is an update on the animated short I am working on together with my two studio mates Lukas and Joost. We've started animating a few weeks ago and a couple of sequences are nearing completion already. Here are stills from the openening sequence.
The story is about Anna, a little girl who has to live with a new family for a while, because her own parents have trouble taking care of here. The goal of the film is to inform young children about what happens, when they themselves, or children around them get involved in a difficult situation like this.
Here is a collection of preproduction artwork. The designs are all done by me and we are animating it together. So far, this is has been a great project to work on!
