Old Hellboy

Here is an old sculpt I made of Ron Perlman as Hellboy. I started this before the first movie was even in theatres, so I think it's save to say I'll probably never finish it. It was made with Super Sculpey, which I colored red by mixing in some red Fimo because I thought it suited the subject matter.

Pirates

I did this one for a magazine. There are some letters hidden in the drawing which, combined with some that were hidden elsewhere, can be used to create a secret word. I had a lot of fun with this one!

Indiana Jones stuff

About a year and a half ago, when the new design for theraider.net went online, I was asked to create one of the image headers that would show up at the top of every page. I made one, but I've always been wanting to make a second one, just because the first one was so much fun! Finally, I found time to make a second contribution.

And to give you a little look behind the scenes, this is what the layout sketch looked like, made on a regular A4 sized paper. You can see how some elements look quite different from the final version, while others remain almost unchanged. I always like to draw images like this fairly small, because you get a certain spontaneity in your work which is hard to capture in a larger drawing. Once I am satisfied with the overall layout I scan the drawing, enlarge all the elements and print them on separate sheets of paper. I refine all these elements separately on my light table and put them back together again on the computer.

This is the first header by the way.

Brush Fish

I made up these little fish while trying to get a grip on one of those brushpens. Fish are the bombdiggity! You can just design your own fish based on the weirdest shape you can come up with, and there probably is a real fish out there looking exactly like that. The supreme being really outdid himself while creating these cool creatures.

Just a lil' sumthin' sumthin'

I bought a new widescreen monitor and decided to finish of a sketch I had lying around as my new desktop. Click HERE to get a 1680x1050 version. And yes, I love Gremlins.

A girl I saw on the bus

Here is a girl I saw on the bus. Huh, what's that, you don't believe me? Ok, I lied.

Han ma bookie...

Remember that clunky Jabba toy from way back in the day? As a kid I thought it was the coolest, most realistic piece of playware one could get it's hands one. Unfortunately, when Star Wars VI was released I was still in my Fisher Price phase and by the time I was 6 or 7, the only way to find out about these figures was from ads in old magazines. I have always wanted to have one of those Jabba's, but it just never happened. Until I discovered Super Sculpey that is. I love that stuff...
